Malaysia Landmark

As the national petroleum corporation, PETRONAS is conscious of the important role it has to play in helping to make Malaysia a progressive country.

PETRONAS has been involved in the development of two mega projects. The Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) is prominent for the PETRONAS Twin Towers which are currently one of the tallest twin towers in the world. It offers a comprehensive range of world-class amenities and cultural facilities, including office complexes, an international class hotel, a shopping mall, restaurants and entertainment centers. A beautiful 50-acre landscaped public park, located within the KLCC precinct, is also a favorite destination for foreign visitors and local families alike.

Another mega project, undertaken by PETRONAS, is Putrajaya, the new administrative centre for the Federal Government. Just 25 km out of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya is the forerunner of future Malaysian cities. It is sprawled over nearly 5,000 hectares. The development of Putrajaya is still ongoing and is expected to finish only in 2010 when it will be fully operational.

Arts, Science and Technology

There is an international class visual art gallery, GALERI PETRONAS, which showcases some of the finest international art works. PETRONAS also has its own performing arts group. Its state-of-the-art Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (PETRONAS Philharmonic Hall) and resident Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra further promotes the development of the arts. PETRONAS has also built an interactive science discovery centre, which displays exhibits aimed at stimulating interest in science and technology, particularly in petroleum science. PETROSAINS is meant to instill public appreciation of how science and technology have improved our lives.

Social Contributions

Being constantly aware of its social responsibility, PETRONAS contributes to various public and community projects which include medical health, education and research, culture and arts, sports and welfare services, as well as environmental Programmes. These Programmes are aimed at benefiting many Malaysians such as its sponsorship of haemodialysis clinics throughout the country to provide treatment to retired members of the Malaysian police force, mobile eye clinics and other similar contributions to assist needy Malaysians.
