i) Academic Requirement

 

PhD Programme (By Research)

a) Fresh Graduate from MSc by Coursework

Candidates must hold a MSc Degree with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 or equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized university

b) Fresh Graduate from MSc by Research

Candidates must hold a MSc Degree or equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized university

c) With relevant experience

Candidates must hold a MSc Degree or equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized university

 

 

ii) English Requirement

 

Candidates are required to show proficiency in written and spoken English in one of the following forms:

  • A minimum TOEFL score of 550 or
  • A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or
  • A minimum ELTS score of Band-6 or
  • A minimum MUET score of Band-4 or
  • A minimum  Cambridge English : First (FCE) score of 67
  • A minimum  Cambridge English : Advanced (CAE) score of 52

*Note: All applicants must fulfill the English language requirement in order to be admitted to the approved programme.


iii) Additional Supporting Document (Internationals students only)

  • GRE Test Score (Computer-based OR Paper-based Test)

By definition, Mission Oriented Research is a focused area, which is multidisicplinary in nature and in line with PETRONAS' and the nation's needs. To date there are nine Mission Oriented Research Group :

Candidates are advised to have sufficient fund to cover the following expenses:

  • Hostel rental about RM 160 per month
  • Foods and beverages approximately RM 500 per month
  • Personal laptop
  • Transportation i.e motorcycle, car, bicycle

a) UTP GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP SCHEME (GA)

  • Full Time student (research only).
  • Cover tuition fees (semester fee, research methodology, viva@examination).
  • Registration, accommodation and transportation are not covered and will need to be born by the student.
  • Candidate will be assigned 5 hours of academic activities per week in the form of tutorials or laboratory demonstration or any other related academic activities.
  • Candidate will need to perform 22 research days per month.
  • Monthly Subsistence Allowance.
    • MSc student – RM 1,650.00
    • PhD student – RM 2,200.00

 

 

b) UTP TUITION FEE ASSISTTANTSHIP SCHEME (TFA)

  • Full Time student (research only).
  • Cover tuition fees (semester fee, research methodology, viva@examination).
  • Registration, accommodation and transportation are not covered and will need to be born by the student.
  • Candidate will be assigned 5 hours of academic activities per week in the form of tutorials or laboratory demonstration or any other related academic activities.

c) MINISTRY OF HIGHER EDUCATION (MOHE) – MyBRAIN15 Scholarship – MyPhD

  • Malaysian only.
  • Full Time student (research only).
  • Cover tuition fees not exceed RM 24,000 (semester fee, research methodology, viva@examination).
  • Registration, accommodation and transportation are not covered and will need to be borne by the student.
  • Monthly Subsistence Allowance.
    • PhD student – RM 2,300.00

d) Employee Provident Fund (EPF) Withdrawal Scheme for Malaysian students only covering tuition fee



f) Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) - Malaysia International Scholarship for international students covering tuition fees and allowance (Full Time only)
