Postgraduate research degrees in the Social Sciences & Humanities and Management are offered and coordinated by the University’s Department of Management and Humanities. The Master ofPhilosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) are the two main degrees awarded for research postgraduate studies in a wide range of research themes. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

i) Academic Qualification

MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (MPhil)

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 or 2nd Class Upper Division or equivalent in the relevant field from a recognised university

Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree

with a minimum of CGPA 3.00/4.00 or

equivalent in the relevant field from a

recognised university



ii) English Language Requirement


  • A minimum TOEFL score of 550; or
  • A minimum IELTS score of 6.0; or
  • A minimum ELTS score of Band-6; or
  • A minimum MUET score of Band-4
  • Applicants who are native English speakers or holding a degree with English as the medium of instruction may be exempted from this requirement.

Only tuition fees will be covered by the scheme. Registration fees, accommodation fees, flight tickets etc will be borne by the student.
All graduate assistants will be assigned 5 hours of academic activitiesper week in the form of tutorial or laboratory demonstration or any other related academic activities.
