Scholarship Schemes

Some scholarships for study in Malaysia may be available from the Malaysian Government or private organisational bodies in Malaysia.

If you hope to obtain a scholarship, you will need to apply well ahead of time, in your home country. The first thing you should do is to contact your own Ministry of Education or other relevant offices, or the nearest Malaysian Embassy/Consulate office in your own country. Check whether there are any scholarships offered by your own Government or other organisations in your country.

Remember, if you are fortunate enough to receive a scholarship, you still need to ensure that it is enough to meet all your cost. Be especially careful if you only have a partial scholarship or if you intend to bring your family. Once you have accepted a scholarship and begin studying, it is very unlikely that you would be able to change your program or extend your scholarship.

Unforeseen Financial Difficulties

If you run into financial difficulties while you are undergoing your program, please seek advice from the Student Support Services Department. While it is essential that you do not leave home to study in Malaysia without sufficient funds, unforeseen events may create problems.

If this should occur, the International Student Unit, Student Support Services Department could give you some guidance.
