OVERVIEW

The Sustainable Resources Mission Oriented Research (SUREMOR) group leverages on the new emerging discipline in the 21st century that is “sustainability” which derives impetus from the concepts of sustainable  development and environmental science including the economic and social aspects of the subject matter.

SUREMOR not only harnesses science and technology research efforts but also focuses on human capital development for sustainable environment.


SUREMOR also conducts outreach activities (part of University Social Responsibility – USR) in the form of action research and researchers from engineering, technological and humanities background are integrated in these activities.

SUREMOR’s aspires to be a leading referral center for sustainable resources and to:





VISION


Our Aim is to establish SUREMOR as a Leading Regional Centre for Sustainable Resources for:

  • Low Carbon Materials
  • Environmental Engineering

via the establishments of National Centre of Excellence in the two thematic areas.
By 2020, both COEs will be functioning at full scale by providing technical services locally and internationally towards achieving Low-Carbon Community.

RESEARCH KEY AREAS

SUREMOR focuses on THREE (3) key areas, which are relevant to the global sustainability research concerns as follows:

  • LOW CARBON DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION


  • RESOURCE EFFICIENCY


  • WATER UTILISATION AND WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT
